Clover - an important plant on organic farms.

James Green Wolverhampton

Caerhys Farm is a small farm in Pembrokeshlre, which is in South West Wales. The nearest town is St. David's which is the smallest city in Britain.
It is a small dairy farm with over 70 cows to milk. The farm is 160 acres big which is small for a farm; the farmers are called Anne and Gerald they have got 4 sons called Carwyn, Tom, Rob and John. Carwyn is the youngest of the sons and he works on the farm with hls Mum and Dad. There are lots of animals on the farm as well as the cows; there is a dog called Fang who is very playful. There are 6 cats and one of them called Whinky has just had 5 kittens, 4 pigs, Betsy, Blodwyn, Bella and Babe also there are Betsy and Biodwyn's piglets. The pigs are very greedy especially the piglets!
Carwyn has 2 white ducks and one of them has hatched 12 eggs. Most of the jobs on the farm are done by machine, for instance, milking, harvesting, ploughing the fields and cutting grass to make sillage that is used to feed the cows in winter. Next to the farmhouse where Ann and Gerald live is the old farmhouse which Ann and Gerald rent out to people to stay in for their holidays, we were made very welcome and allowed, to watch what goes on on the farm. Gerald usually took us for rides in his tractor when he went to feed his cows that he keeps in a separate field. There is lots of cow dung on the farm that does not smell very nice but you get used to it eventually, you need to wear wellies just in case you tread in it!
The farm is up on a hill and the fields slope down to the sea. From the garden you can see the bay at Abereiddy where there is a beach where people play, swim and surf and in the distance you can see a lighthouse that flashes at night to warn ships away from the rocks. While we were there in the summer there were lots of Swallows flying around, some of them had made nests under the roof of the farmhouse.
It is a lovely place to visit and I would. recommend it to anyone for a holiday, I know that Mr. Mirza would agree with me because he was staying close by on his holiday while we were there and we saw him several times on the beach.
